Make sure that your uniform is pressed and your boots shined. You go there with even a thread out of place, they will jump your crap like there is no tomorrow. They try to get the weak ones to drop out the first week. Remember this, if you can make it the first week, then the rest is very do-able.

Everything is "Yes Sir!" Be loud when you answer and answer with confidence. Never have any excuses. They don't care why you are late or why your uniform looks like sh*t.

Study like this is your last day in the academy. Give it 100% while in physical training. Don't be the person that slows down the rest of the class. Don't do anything to get yourself noticed in a bad way. Can your attitude and leave your personal problems at the door. Good luck.

One thing I would strongly recommend is to be quiet more... I know it's hard but the staff of the academy have seen way more in their lives than you have (unless you grew up in Beirut or Kosovo).
Listen, pay attention and really try to remember what they are teaching you. And, work very hard to get into tip top shape.
The more you sweat at the academy, the less you will bleed on the street.
LIke the other poster said, study, study, study, this isn't college and frat parties, this is life or death. Your partner or beat buddy is counting on you when it gets bad and it will at some point sooner or later.
And whatever you do for heaven's sake, don't talk about wanting to get into shootouts, or beat downs or stuff like that. I don't care if your personal goal is to make necklaces from drug dealer's ears, don't talk about it!
Loudmouths are held in super low esteem in the academy.
Just enjoy the ride, it's a pain, but it is so worth it!
And by the way, if you press your own uniforms get a thing called an ironing shield it looks like a piece of mosquito netting but it keeps you from burning shiny spots on your uniforms when you iron them (and it looks horrible when you do it).

Take the time to reach deep inside yourself and be really sure that you have the metal capabilities to endure law enforcement. now is the time to find out not staring down the business end of a gun or scarping up pieces of bodies if you answer yes then work hard learn everything you can and be nosy.Good luck

I hope you've been running because you'll be doing a lot of that, leave your personal problems at home, go with a clear mind and ready to learn, keep the Can Do! attitude, make sure the uniform is pressed and the boots are shined, and NEVER BE LATE!

Study when you don't have too. Give it 110%. Take everything they dish out and keep smiling. One last thing, take lots of pictures, if you don't, in 20 years you sure as hell wished you had.
