As long as you both are old enough, mature enough, and understand the consequences that may result, I don't see why one year should be a concern. As long as it's for all the right reasons, a year really isn't something to worry about.

If you are going to have sex why does age matter? Just make sure you are protected from diseases and pregnancy.
