There are two types of herpes simplex virus that both attack skin and mucous membranes in all areas of the body.HSV-1, the most common type, usually appears as cold sores on the mouth and lips.HSV-2 affects the genitals.Around 80 per cent of the adult population have antibodies in their blood indicating past infection with HSV-1 and 25 per cent have antibodies against HSV-2. Antibodies represent the 'memory' of the body's immune system, enabling it to recognise and then attack foreign material, such as viruses, when they re-enter the body. However, the presence of antibodies is no guarantee that further virus attack will be repelled efficiently or completely. Repeated attacks of herpes infection can and do therefore occur.Genital herpes develops very differently from one person to another. Some people will go through life with few attacks or none at all, while others will have them regularly.Outbreaks decline as the person gets older.

Yes. If you had this virus and it "healed," It can occur four times a year or never again. However, it does stay in your blood. The virus rests behind the spine and can be awakened during very times when your immune system may be weak, or you have another bad infection, etc. Basically, you need blood work done to first determine that you carry the Herpes virus. From there, there is medication you can take to help curb breakouts of the virus or stop it altogether. But to date, there is no cure for it. As far as getting it if exposed again, I would said yes. I do not believe there are different strains of gential herpes. Just different symptoms.

Once you get genital herpes, you always have genital herpes. It may go into remission, but it can always come back. You can also infect a sexual partner, even if you don't have any physical sign of an active infection. You are basically a walking plague.

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?
But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

There is no cure for herpes you have it forever. The little skin leasions just go into remission, it is still possible to spread herpes to others even when there are no sores present.
You cannot get infected again, because you have it forever.

Herpes never go away. You may not have sores, but you still have Herpes. Im not sure that you can get new sore from someone else.
I would suggest you take a good look at yourself and your partner before having sex, to make sure there aren't any sores.
Good Luck and wear protection!

You don't get infected again because you never got rid of it in the first place!!! Its an uncurable virus, most people go through periods of time and have no symtoms and periods of "out breaks" when sores are present. These times vary from person to person. And the virus can be transmited at ANY TIME! Some people carry the virus and never have an out break. There are medicines available to shorten the length of out breaks and lengthen the time between them.PLEASE SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!!
