my brother is 29 and still treats me (and I'm older then him by 2 years), like I am weird and not cool. I think he got stuck there.. we had a dysfunctional home... and he found his identity in being cool in high school and popular

I have some friends stuck in a time warp too. I think it isn't about their identity but about where they were happiest within themselves. That said I have one friend who is stuck in her identity of high school that wasn't so pleasant, because that pain it brought her was an identity she isn't ready to let go of.

One day, when he is ready he will move forward from this persona, but you need to patient, because you can't make it happen

The mindset of “I’m cool, you’re not” is a very immature one, so I certainly hope you’re not stuck with it for the rest of your life. I'm wondering if the problem isn't a lack of maturity? Just a thought.

My husband still wears jeans, and combs his hair the exact same way he did in high school. And yes, I think he does think "I'm cool, you're not" when he sees younger people with newer fashions.

people constantly evolve. by the time you realize that you aren't the person you were in high school you will be happy because you will think about what a loser you were back then. (not you as in YOU but just in general.) i laugh at myself when i think about the person i was then and how much i have matured. in 18 months. it's amazing when you think about it.
