I currently have Vonage and also SunRocket. However, I do not recommend Vonage, and I DO recomment SunRocket.

SunRocket is cheaper, same quality if not better, and customer service is MUCH easier to get to when you have problems. Vonage takes over 30 minutes on the phone every time I call them regarding an outage or other issue.

SunRocket has better international rates too. 3 cents/minute to over 40 countries. They have a flat rate $199/YEAR plan for unlimited calling within USA + Canada. They have an Unlimited International + Domestic plan for $299/year. They also have a budget plan for $9.95/month for 200 minutes/month within USA + Canada and 100 free international minutes.

Details and list of international countries that are only 3 cents/minnute can be found at: http://www.essistme.com/2007/01/24/how-to-make-really-cheap-long-distance-calls/

And SunRocket doesn't have any cancellation fees or term contracts. What you see is what you get.

I feel for you -- dump your phone company now and go VOIP!

I dont use them but I do work on telephones, (goverment contract) but thats besides the point.

Vonage and other broadband voice companies in my opinion are not worth it yet.

Reason being is that they dont tell you or at least not advertised, that if you loose you internet connection or power you loose your phone as well. They also do not, and no matter what any one else says they do not have your traditional 911 as you do with Bellsouth, SBC, Qwest, ect....

Now I have heard equal number of good and bad. In my opinion your just trading one set of problems for another.

Also you need a broadband connection, which you will get from your Local phone company(in your case Bellsouth), your satalite TV company, or your cable company. Most of them offer and telephone, TV, internet package that have pretty reasonable rates.

VOIP isn't ready for residential use. I do see it as a good alternative for small to large businesses.

before you do anything...go to this website...and see what ppl talk about...there VoIP provider..

http://www.dslreports.com/

go to the forum and ask questions there...

then

if you decide to go with Broadband....go to the vonage, or any provider you will choose and read there forum....then if you still want it...you can make a wise decision...
