I'm fifteen - male - and recently I've been notified that I bounce when I walk. I look like a total idiot. I've tried many things in the past day to try and improve this but nothing will. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks.

Most people who bounce have poor foot flexibility. Instead of flexing their toes, they compensate with extra ankle extension. That, along with stiff kness, will cause the bounce.

Try ankle/foot stretching exercises like ballerinas do. Sit on the ground straight legged, knees together. Point your toes forward as far as you can. Then flex your toes back as far as you can. Slowly point and flex 20, 50, even 100 times a day. This will loosen you up.

Also, remember that walking is controlled falling. Focus on bringing your weight forward in a falling arc. Use the knee of the foot your weight is on to ease the fall to your other foot. Avoid the impulse to push up with your toes.

You have to realize that you've likely been walking like this your whole life, so it will take longer than a day to fix it. I've noticed that in people too, and this is what I think.

It looks bouncy when people don't have proper heel contact with the floor. Try walking heel toe heel toe and actually put weight on your heel. when taking the step, try not to raise up on the ball of your foot. Keep your knees loose, and avoid the "springing" action by letting your foot bend naturally mid-step.

I know that was in terms IIII could understand, but I'm sorry if it doesn't make sense... Good luck!!! I'm proud of you for trying to change!!! It won't be easy, but keep trying, you'll get it!

Put a brick in your backpack....that should stop the bounce...but I think there is nothing wrong with walking enthusiastically! I can't stand watching people drag their feet.

it seems u walk this way as a
way of keeping weight off your
knees or something maybe your
hips need x#raying to rule out
any problems of misalignment.
or the arches of your feet
have collapsed and need
retraining with specialist footwear.

would you rather bounce or drag your feet? dragging your feet can stop you from bouncing but you should sstop dragging your feet because its really annoying when a person walks slow and you kan hear their shoe scraping.
