If it were updated it wouldn't serve it's purpose. It would lose it's original meaning and besides, How on earth are you going to put the creation into modern terms or the story of Adam and Eve.
Put them into a high rise as the only occupants? It just wouldn't be the same. God doesn't serve the "new age" as you call it.
God is unchangeable. If he wanted it updated it would have been updated. Actually I believe someone tried that already. It just doesn't read the same!

The wisdom and teachings of the Bible are applicable for all generations. By updated do you mean edited? If so, keep in mind this warning:
"Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Do not add to his words,
or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar." -Proverbs 30:5-6
However, if you mean updated as in a modern language translation so that we can better understand it, then I see nothing wrong with that. I know there are those who will only read from the KJV and consider the other versions trash, but I see nothing wrong with the NIV. If I am in error about this, someone feel free to correct me. I am not above reproach. But I don't speak in thees and thous or cometh hither. The NIV is easier for me to understand. However, I cannot support The Message Bible.

Say What?!! Do you hear the crap coming out of your mouth? That's like saying should I upgrade my 1964 Ferrari 250 GT by adding ground effects to the body for better handling on today's tougher road courses? Are you crazy! Get a grip man! (no pun intended). GOD is ALWAYS the same and never changes. It is WE that have to change (to reflect) Him. Not vise versa. Now sit down, shut up and go read your Bible. And o ah, Praise God!

Hmmm. Sounds to me like you are really saying "How can we rewrite this sucker so we can have a book which isn't constantly telling us that all the things we want to do are wrong and bad for us." or "Why doesn't God shape up and ship out and let us run our own lives--but He should let us into heaven when we die because we are really all pretty nice people." Sigh.
Well, the truth is that God is God and we aren't. Since He's God, He gets to make all the rules and we don't. And the Bible is the Bible--take it or leave it.

Yes, I think we do need an updated version so our modern generation and future generations can and/will try to understand what the Bible says, and except spirituality, but never ever change the original.

No need. It's YOU who need to be updated for what the Bible says about these ages.
You will find everything said in the Bible is similar to what is happening nowadays.

Of course not. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His word should not be compromised to reflect changes of culture, although many are seeking to do that in their churches. That's the beginning of a fall, when a church begins to compromise God's word.

Perhaps not exactly updated, but maybe an added text at the bottom of each page to suggest how the scripture can be applied to modern times.

You can still apply the lessons taught in the bible to your lives today. You just can't take everything literally in it. You should take what it taught and apply it to the time we live in now. It still gives us the same message to respect those around us and do what is right.

Now here is another example of tearing down something that has been the foundation of faith for all of time. What's wrong with the way it is?
Besides, by the time everyone got through arguing what to amend, we;ll all be dead and gone anyway.
