Answering this as a bartender You follow the directions on the box as long as you did your mesurement correct. The way it goes is sub vodka for cold water. You still need to boil the hot water. (Don't ever boil vodka) If you want them to really jiggelly wait over night. vodka does not mix well so it may be a good idea to whisk your mix for an extra minute or two. Good Luck

about 1 1/2 hrs if you pu them in the freezer just begin checking them after the have been in for an hour

The more alcohol the longer to gel. If you put too much vodka in they won't gel at all...or is that because I didn't wait? lol No, they won't completely gel if you put too much alcohol in them. Good luck!
