I wouldn't cut ties. Hopefully through me, they will be converted. I had a friend who prayed for his mother everyday, and she converted at 97.

What? Where in the world do you get your information from?
I'm Christian and I haven't cut any ties except those that I would have cut anyway - certainly not because someone doesn't believe the same as I do. You are judging something you obviously know nothing about. Thats crazy - do you believe everything some goofball whispers in your ear? I am quite grounded as a person, thank you, and I do not involve myself in any cult. Maybe someone has given you the wrong information. It might be worth it to you to check out some truth instead of listening to unknowledgable people. Who knows? It could change your life.

I have been their before, I was kicked out for asking to many ? I just did not understand the facts that where put in their. Each time I asked a new ? they could not answer it so after asking to many ? they kicked me out, and it continued, so I stopped going all together.
But if they are Christians they are not suppose to judge others, but they do any way! MMM go figure thats life.
I still try not to judge others.
I like to add that when these where small churches they where better, they are now where house size churches, I think they should stay small, this was a church with 8 ministers, but when I started going their their was one minister their, and I was kicked out from one of the ministers, for asking to many ? Go figure. A lot can happen in 4 years.

Maybe you're being misled. Or perhaps these other people are. The bible says for Christians to be in this world, not of it. That means we are to live our lives without allowing the more worldly things to influence us.
The bible also says we should not be unequally yolked, meaning not to marry someone of another faith. You can see how that might cause problems. Some think that extends to all relationships, but again, the Christian needs to be aware of the influences of the world.
I've been a Christian for 10 years. Many of my friends are non-Christian. I have lively discussions about religion with a few of them, but they still are my dear friends.
But Jesus did warn Christians that believing in Him could cause serious hardships with relationships. I guess it all boils down to what's in a person's heart.

Dude where in the world are Christians that are like that? Man I'm just guessing but my corner of the neighborhood must be really nice. I as a Christian would NEVER EVER "cut ties" with family or friends if they didn't believe in what I believe. Dude....

This "recommendation" doesn't come from the mainstream Church, and you're right: it does show a sort of fearful mentality.
It probably comes from a misinterpretation of passages in some of the New Testament letters of the Apostles Paul and John. At times they talk about **the Church** excluding a corrupt member until he repents. However, this is not presented as something to do in ordinary family life. St. Paul even advises Christians explicitly to remain married to their non-Christian spouses, as long as the spouse is willing to live peaceably.
Sorry if somebody's erroneous teaching gave you a bad impression of Christianity.

Beware of Cults who require that you cut ties with friends and family. This is the first step in becoming isolated and brainwashed Cults do not recommend that you cut ties, they DEMAND it. What better way to exercise complete control over a person than to deny them contact with those who love them most.

I'm sorry but I have no clue what you are talking about. Christians as a general rule do not cut off ties with family no matter what the others believe. There are a few groups that are very cultish which choose to call themselves Christian, but choose to follow other teachings who tell their members to separate themselves from unbelieving families... but then that isn't the general population in Christianity, just fringe movements.

I can agree that some so called christians do this being a christian myself. The main type of christians that do these things are some times in a odd based church like those that speak in tongues etc. the better honest and friendly christians are the bible based beleivers or the evangelisticals because you should want to spread the word...not keep it to yourself.

From my point of view as a christian: It is not to cut ties with those beyond conversion but those who have a negative attitude towards Christians and life in general. The idea is to surround your self with positive friends and such so that you are not negative and down when you do incure someone who is down and negative.
To mix with non Christan's (especially family) IS important (so long as they are not downing you all the time) Other wise how can we lead non believers to believe.
Hope this makes sense...

I think that you are way off base here. I have never heard of such a thing in Christian churches, other than amongst the Mormons and yes, mormons are often considered to be a cult.
