I'm very sketchy about asking someone I work with out on a date - but I like this guy!!
He's new at where we work, I trained him. We seem to have a lot in common, but I don't want to feel all weird at work if it doesn't work out. Plus, how do you date someone you work with, you would see them all day long, and all evening, maybe night?!?!

Suggestions and tips...

Do date co-workers. It's a bad set up. Trust us who have been there, done that.

It is not bad but you have to learn how to keep work at work and home life at home. I was with someone I meet at work for 4 yrs and we worked together for 1 1/2 yrs and he was my boss on some days but we figured out how to work together even if we had a bad arguement the night before. If you can keep things in perspective then you should be alright. Hopefully he is not with someone right now...

My tip would be to not date him as long as you are co-workers. Like you have said,it can lead to some very uncomfortable situations. If there is romantic interest, maybe down the line one of you will change employers and you'll get to explore things further.

Try asking him out to lunch with a group at first, then lunch alone. Once you two are more comfortable as friends, ask for his phone number and call him on the weekends. I landed a girlfriend once doing this.

Yikes. Let me just say that you are digging your own hole. First off, wait for him to ask you out, otherwise things might get complicated. Keep it casual until you can't bare the fact that he's a coward to ask you out. You might label yourself negatively if you do otherwise.

Don't fish in the company pond... you'll be sorry if you do.
