I bought a 32 inch Vizio with 1200 contrast ratio... I would like to get the 37 inch, but is it worth the extra $200 when the contrast ratio drops to only 1000????????

I would say yes, it is worth the money. Do not be fooled or concerned with too many numbers. I have a 50 watt Carver amp that will destroy a 250 watt Sony amp. Take a look at features and then go and view the TV's yourself and be honest as to wether you can see a difference. Also try to adjust the settings on the TV yourself. I have a $4k 1080p LCD which can look like crap with incorrect settings.

I just bought the 46" G10 for about 1300 shipped to my door. Worth every penny. The Panasonic Plasmas are now the "king" of image quality. It used to be Pioneer Plasmas, but they don't make them anymore. The size really depends on your living room setup. With a 46" screen you really need at least an 7-8 foot viewing distance, anything shorter can ruin the experience. If you don't have 7-8 feet, get the 42", if you do, consider the 46". If you have more space, save up and get the 50"! Either way, you've made a great choice of the type of TV. In response to the comments about LCD vs Plasma. Plasma has always had better image quality. Mainly due to their ability to produce true blacks. So much better is the image quality in Plasma TVs that people were willing to deal with problems like image retention and "burn-in". However, these are Panasonic's new NeoPDP plasmas. They have a very long life, they draw much less power, they don't burn in easily. In addition, they have protection to prevent image retention built into the TV. It really is a non-issue, a thing of the past.

the contrast ratio isnt the issue.

a real question would be: what was the original price, and what is the resolution on it? Going from $200 to 400 dollars wouldnt be worth it, but going from 10,000 to 10,200 would.
