no tattoo "has" to face a certain way but it just always looks better to have a tattoo that will look right side up to a person that is looking at it and not to the person that has it. for instance i have a skull on the top of my foot. i always see it upside down but other people who see me see it normally. but how dumb would it look if i could see it straight on and it was upside down to everybody else?? my sister in law has a heart tattooed on her foot and she got it so she could see the heart right. so when i look at it straight on it looks like nuts. i call her nuts foot.

They don't HAVE to face any particular direction. Tattoos, what they are and where they are and how they are faced are all personal choices.
Just because a trend of them is apparent doesn't mean that it has a meaning.
If you wanted a tattoo there, just get it and don't worry about what it means to anyone else but you.

Hi Jum, I haven heard that one.But i would think a heart would be facing up on your wrist,so you don't have a bleeding heart. Alway's up. I have a tribal heart,and it faces up.

tattoos art placed so that they face forwards, its mostly aesthetics. For example anything on your arms will face inwards while anything on your chest will face outwrds. its just following the natural flow of the bodies curves.

It depends on the artist. Some make a big deal out of placing tatoos so other people can view them and others will place the tat so you can view it.

I SAY THIS ALL DAY! TATTOOS DON'T HAVE TO BE ANYTHING. THEY ARE THE ONLY THING ON THIS PLANET WE REALLY HAVE TOTAL CONTROL OVER. THATS WHY THEY ARE SO POPULAR! YOU CHOOSE. ITS ALL YOUR DECISION AND ONCE ITS DONE NOBODY CAN TELL YOU ITS WRONG CAUSE THERE IT IS! IT EXISTS THEREFORE IT IS RIGHT. SCREW EVERYONE AND WHAT THEY THINK. IF YOU AREN'T OF THAT STATE OF MIND, TATTOOS AREN'T FOR YOU.
