Roll down the window, extend finger, scream, honk horn.

If you receive any negative feedback, re-extend arm with pistol in hand.

You'll slide right in.

Call it a zipper if you like. In some areas, instead of "merge," the signs say "squeeze"! There really should be semaphores (traffic lights for those who don't know) there to control the lanes. You didn't get RAN into, you got RUN into. Common sense takes precedence over etiquette when dealing with bullies and semis. Don't give them the finger or display a gun, unless you like ending up rammed into a ditch. You always bow, let them through, then shoot out their tires from a distance.

It is a right muck because a good many gits have no idea what the rules are. Still others, like the lorry, have blind spots.
I always watch and will yield, if nothing else because I will not have the bother of an accident. My fault or not.
I am sorry it happened to you.

It depends on the situation, of course, but if you are entering the freeway, for example, the cars on the freeway have the right of way so the cars on the ramp are supposed to yield. I'm sorry about your accident and I hope you are okay. Sometimes other drivers do unexpected things. I hope you'll never have to learn that lesson the hard way again. Consider the wisdom of this verse:

Here lie the bones of Solomon Gray,
Who died defending his right of way.
He was right, dead right, as he sped along,
But just as dead as if he'd been wrong.

well etiquette and the law are two different things. you would this zipper, but if the guy was in front of you, then it is probably your fault because you did not give him the right of way. remember, defensive driving is always the best policy.

No, you are wrong. How did you pass a driver's test? If you are in the merge lane, you must wait until the road is clear for you to enter it. It is not a matter of taking turns.
