My husband had the bedroom door shut, but it wasn't locked. It was time for our daughter to go to bed and she went in to tell him goodnight and saw him watching porn. He jumped up and just couldn't get it off the screen fast enough. I asked her what she saw and she described what was on the screen. I am devasted and so worried about her. He feels stupid but also says im over reacting and that she will be fine. Am I over reacting? I know he didn't do it on purpose I'm just so worried that my daughter's innocence may have been lost or something. Please help.

Answer 1 has it spot on. If you keep on and on about it, she's going to remember more because you're making a 'fuss'..
Kids walk in on a lot they shouldn't see (sneaky buggers!) but stay calm, they tend to forget it!
Tell hubby to lock the door from now on though!

She should be fine if not exposed regularly. She is too young to see what she saw, though, and your husband has no business looking at porn on the computer or magazines or TV when she is around. That's something he should do on his own time when he is alone so these "accidents" do not continue to happen. Also, teach your daughter to knock when Mom and Dad have the door closed even if not locked.

i think if anything you should just explain to your daughter that her dad was watching a movie not for kids and then allow her to ask questions if she has any.

it would be too easy to ignore and just hope for the best, but i think it is wiser to take a pro-active approach.

i don't think you are over-reacting, but i doubt her innocence has been lost because of this incident.

you might want to go over the rules of privacy with her as well.. e.g. if a door is closed to knock before entering.

tell your husband to keep the door locked .What an idiot!! Does he not realize that , it is not normal for a six year old to be exposed to that garbage?
