What are some things I can do to relieve anxiety? I just feel sort of nervous when I do things like going out somewhere. What are some things I can do (not taking pills) that can relieve this, like certain tea or yoga exercises?

I like music therapy .. mixed in with fresh air or exercise. You don't have to go way out someplace, even just in your backyard / patio.

Enya's "Watermark" is soothing to me

I have severe anxiety, and one of the only ways I can ever hope to decrease my meds or not take them at all is exercising from 30 min - 60 min per day. At least, that is what my Doc said. Yoga is of course recommended because it encourages breathing exercises often used to control anxiety, but any exercise is good. Meditation, if you are comfortable doing that. Some people say eating turkey relieves anxiety but there is no actual proof in that that I have found. Eliminate coffee, chocolate etc... the caffeine really doesn't help.

Ironic that you call yourself "serenity". Good thing to want.
Yoga is wonderful, as is meditation; also prayer and contemplation. These all exist in many forms.

I don't think that they work so well alone, though, in two ways: 1) these are part of a program of alignment of the self (smaller, "me", my wants, my fears) with the greater SELF that has no wants or fears, that accepts all and knows itself. That means that the true seeker goes on a journey of self-discovery, and the sooner the better so that bad habits, ideas, resentments, and conditions don't grow and invest, making them harder to extirpate, like weeds.

Many methods for this overall development exist, but the most well- known -- though misunderstood-- are variations on the TWELVE STEPS. (They did NOT originate in AA. The Greeks and the 16th Century had its versions.)

So the question is "do my insides match my outsides?" Why/why not? Can I find and admit the EXACT nature of what is wrong? Can I learn to serve my fellow man instead of being pre-occupied with ...

It's amazing.

And it's FREE.

Make pills, potions, and "guru"s unnecessary. There are no secrets, no tapes to buy, no cults or sects or institutions.

Best to you.

I like looking at trees and clouds but not while driving=]

I know when I cook with baby dill herb it seems to be very soothing but i think its the smell. You could put that in a little pouch and try =]

But ive usually found that there is something specific that makes me feel anciouse and I try to figure out what that is and focus on removing it or solving the problem.

Buy French CD's. I got a couple from Border's one is call Putumayo Presents French Cafe, and Putumayo Presents Paris. They are really soft songs and they relax me so much. I have problems sleeping so I put them on at night before bed and I fall right asleep. The language is so beautiful and you don't know what they are saying so it's relaxing. Even listening to it in the car relaxes me. You'd be surprised of how just listening to music can put you in another state of mind. Here are the links to the CD's if your interested in buying them, they are both great! (I put the links under sources)

It is different for everyone....It can range from breathing exercises, to herbal teas, to sex. There are also other lifestyle changes that can be made. I prefer the drugs, but try checking locally, there are anxiety clinics in certain cities that will help you figure out what will work best for you

Avoid caffeine. Try meditation. Meditation doesn't have to have any religious meaning if you don't want it to. It's very often employed as a simple relaxation technique.
