It is the revelation of Jesus Christ. It is the last book of the Bible. It's about the last days. People have a hard time understanding the book because they have never read the Old Testament. A lot of the symbolism which people don't understand comes from the Old Testament. There's 65 books before Revelation, so maybe that's not the place to begin.

The book of the Revelation of Saint John the Divine. Is the 66th book in the Protestant Holy Bible. It is the last book, because for it speaks of the end times, it is the last book which requires a working knowledged of the first 65 that is why a lot of people get confused when the skip the first 65 to get to the last book to see it how it ends. There are several views which is to lengthy to go into great detail. Be wary of most commentaries. If you are truly truly wanting to get to know this book - start reading it for yourself, find a church, and a pastor willing to studying it with you, - ask God who has promised a blessing on those who study it - but remember this too - be true to the Whole Word of God let it dictate what it reveals do not let others dictate what it says - God's word is powerful to do what it is called to do - just believe in it follow it live it daily!

Greek Apokalupsis: uncovering; lifting the veil.
Revelation is in the end of the Bible. For better understanding the characteristics of the apocalyptic literature you need to know that the story line involves the reception of visions by the writer. The present is described as a time of trouble while future is a time of deliverance and triumph.
The story is told in a series of dramatic presentations that make use signs and symbols. Signs and symbols are to be understood as figurative first and literal second. This is opposite to other works of Scripture. For example there is nothing figurative about the style Genesis has been written.
Symbols serve as a dual purpose. To disguise the message from those who might be hostile toward it. To solve the riddle for those presently asking the more profound questions.
Overall purpose of the book of revelation is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants -things that must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John Rev 1:1
Visions are commonplace in apocalyptic literature. In Biblical visions, God uses multiple visions with different story lines to communicate the same basic idea.
I am actually planning to do some blogs about this subject. I can recommend the book " More than a conquerors " by Hendriksen.

The Book of Revelation is the very last book of the New Testament out of the Bible. Typically it is known for many prophecy's and things spoken of the future. many parts are easily understandable, but some require more diligence and studying the background on the readers part. You can purchase a Bible and it will be there.
Online, the site I know best would be here to listen to it chapter by chapter in audio: http://www.lds.org/mp3/display/0,18692,5297-45,00.html
For just reading, the best link I can give is the following:
http://scriptures.lds.org/
Just click on the New Testament to read what you would like.

The apostle John wrote down the Revelation of Jesus Christ when he was old and near death on the island of Patmos of the coast of Greece.
When you go to the above web site I suggest you read from an easy to read version such as the New Life Version or the Message also the book of John is very good reading, which was also taken down by said apostle
To purchase a copy you can go to any goodwill or salvation army store and find a bible inexpensive or free. the book of revelation is the last book in the bible.
seek the truth and you will find Him

Revelation is a book of prophecy. It is "...the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place... Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near."
It's sometimes hard to understand on its own because it uses Old Testament symbolism. You can read it online here:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation%201-22;&version=31;
If you purchase a book to help understand it, be careful in your selection because some have drastically different interpretations of this book. It's best to let the Holy Spririt guide you in understanding.

The Book of Revelation is the last book of the Bible. It is also known as the Apocalypses of St. John. Authorship is generally credited to St. John the Apostle. It is in any version of the Christian Bible and New Testament.
It is not the Book of Revelations (plural) as it was a singular revelation made to the Apostle John. It is not a blue print of the future, but resistance literature for First and Second Century Christians.
All of the prophecies of Revelation have already come to pass in the 1st. and 2nd. Century AD. It is not about the "end times;" people had their own problems then and couldn't care less about what was going to happen in our time.
