It's not entirely abnormal, no. Technically you can get a pimple anywhere you have skin. You can use the same products on spots on your back that you use on your face to help control or treat the breakouts. At your age it is hormonally aggrivated mostly, but if you are wearing synthetic fabric shirts and they are snug fitted, or if you wear lots of layers, the sweat you produce is not able to evaporate as easily and gets trapped against the skin. Warm, moist dark places are favorable places for the bacteria normally on your skin to overgrow, and the pimples are the result. Cut back on the hot showers in favor of a warm one, and wear looser garments made of natural fibers like cotton. If you need to wear layers to stay warm, try to get a cotton t-shirt to wear against the skin. If it really gets to you, you can visit a doctor for medication to help get things under control. But yes, acne on the back is not unusual at your age. Same rules apply to your back as the ones for your face. Don't pick at them, and use the same stuff to clean the skin. A bit of tea tree oil right on the trouble spots before bedtime will help- I suggest bedtime because tea tree oil has a slight odor, which will fade overnight. And take heart, that this will pass and improve. If it gets to be more than a few spots, though, or one gets really nasty, go see the doctor. No need to suffer or get scars when there are treatments available.

Teenagers around that age are experiencing alot of changes physically for both girls and boys. During this change teenagers hormones are going into overtime. Excess of hormones cause acne usually on the face but on the back is not unusual. Over the counter treatments most likely will not work. There are some herbs or a blend of herbs that could help balance out the hormones and reduce the amount of acne a teenager has. After the growth spurt the teenager hormones will eventually return to normal levels. Just keep the affected area clean. Just kids growing into young adults.

Hello my name is Candi, when i grew up I went through alot of the same thing. I would tell my mother how everybody treated me and made fun of me and made me feel unequal but there was nothing that my mama could say or do to make me feel better. I did not need her acceptance I needed that from my peers. And I could not acquire it because my mom would not get me all the things that the other girls had...material items! I had the most awful hair, everybody had straight stylish hair while I had curly hair that I fought every morning to be straight be it always ended up frizzy and a fright! I had acne and not much of a chest myself, in fact they claimed I was the head founder of the itty bitty titty committee! Cruel right?! Well eventually when I was 16 years old I ended up moving to the East coast w/ my grandmother (Ihad been living in the West coast, Arizona) when I moved to Indiana things was alot different, people wasn't so stuck up and worried about looks and out here everybody didn't seem so perfect, not everybody had perfect skin perfect teeth and legs that went for miles, plus people are nicer. Until I moved here I thought I was the skumof the earth. I think alot has to do with the area you live in...big city or small town! There just seems to be alot of "southern Hospitality" in the place I live in now which is also a big city but on the west coast I do feel the people need an attitude adjustment! It's not you girl...it's the people around you!

Yes. It's a tough area to clean. Treat it like acne on the face, Proactiv has a body wash that works great! Use a brush with a handle.

Yes, due to hormone changes although a low immune system can do the trick too. Be sure to give your child a good diet, enough water and avoid meat and milk with artificial hormones. Use Oil of Oregano topically and internally. Oil of Oregano has no side effects.
