I am so happy, it was only a 35 minute drive ( 70 minutes total) but absolutely no sign of anxiety or panic i shopped till I dropped - brilliant! I will now go for the next stage DUAL CARRIAGE way, probably at the weekend, with my husband accompanying me first then the solo drive, if successful the final stage of driving on motorway

Cardio is best to prevent anxiety, and ta chi at the end of the day or to relieve anxiety attacks.

You can't just wish them away! (to the person who says just get comfortable with yourself). In some cases it is a chemical imbalance. Would you tell a clinically depressed person, just stop being down.

The easiest way is "Find someone who does less work than you do. Have meals, coffee, tea, beer or whatever with them, eventually this will relieve you neerves and you may end up with a wider social network.

Having suffered from this I found that breaking a journey in to smaller chunks help. e.g instead of thinking I have got to get to work, start by leaving your front door, once you have done that focus on next part, getting to train/bus station, once done getting on transport etc etc before you know it you are at work or wherever. I still use it to this day and it helps - promise. good luck.

Take a few deep breaths. Yoga, meditation.. Try some calming herbs like valerian.. drink chamomile tea.. take b-complex.. or rescue remedy.And tell yourself how great/confident/calm you are..

take someone with you to take your mind off of things. that is what i do. and when you feel your self start to feel anxious close your eyes and slowly breathe and count to 10 or until the feeling goes away.
