Buffets definitely need to be shown more respect.!
i suggest you start a movement for the prevention of cruelty to buffets and obtain a grant from greenpeace.

I never see Singaporean running towards the food counter and lay their hands on the food. But I always see people take too much food and unable to finished it. However if there is a signage that shows that all there is a penalty for all left over food then such scene don't appear. I think it is more of human being behaviour rather than the behaviour of Singaporean.

Oh well there are definitely some rotten apples. That's why we are term 'ugly singaporean'. So sad but there is some truth in that.

I am Singaporean and I admit that there are instances that these people rush to the food, take more than they can eat(even if they don't like eating them), leave plenty of leftovers and some even shove you out of the line. Not to offence anyone too but I think Singaporeans are much better than those from other Asia countries located in the upper region.

I had experience that a lot of time, just to share.

As a Singaporean, I love buffets. But frankly, I hardly or never seem Singaporean running towards the food counter. Sometime I do see people took too much foods and left over, but not only Singaporean do that. Maybe, you are "fortunate" enought to meet one, but human behavious have nothing to do with their nationality.

well, it's not really nice to generalize all s'poreans are bad @ buffets but i do agree with you that some are really nasty. they really take that as a chance to pig-out! & i mean PIG-out!!! basically, they just grab whatever along their way! they eat like there's no tomorrow, man!!! & then there are some who can't even finish their first serving & decide to go back to the buffet table for their second round!

i used to be a PR person in an advertising firm before & part of my job was to hold such functions. i had to organize media events & seminars & the minute the last speaker made his/her exit, the guests WALKED BRISKYLY towards the buffet table!!! they looked so cool yet so eager to attack the nice spread. imagine well groomed ladies & gentlemen in their 3pc working suits checking out all the little details that were on the table!

i had a fun time then, mingling & observing people. to sum up, i honestly feel that be it s'porean or not, we go weak @ the knees when we see well-spread food where consumption is unlimited. it's not s'porean... it's just human nature ;)

I think there is no one pattern. Some are very well mannered, others certainly not. I have seen some people of all backgrounds nearly run little children over to get to some morsel.

And your point is.... ???

My ex's parents were from Germany, and they used to do the same thing. We quit taking them to buffets.
I don't think they were Singaporeans, but maybe I'm wrong - is Singapore in Germany ??

People are people - you get some with manners, and some without, but ridiculously labelling other cultures just to ask silly questions is wrong as far as I'm concerned.
