Two deployments of care packages have been about the same. It is really hard to get creative when you send packages once a week. My packages always include needed things like underwear, shave gel, etc, mission munchies, candy, toys. Also, we always play a game called "find the frog" where he has to search the box for the always well-hidden frog. Btw, frogs are symbols of good luck. Mission munchies are ALWAYS a hit, and send some to share if possible. Toys, current events from home. The calendar is a good idea, especially if you have a vague idea of when he might come home...so have a count down. Include important dates like birthdays and anniversaries on the calendar because days run together for some of them because they work all hours of the day and night and they lose count of what day it actually is.

In some of the boxes, I included a little special bag...labeled "date with self night." It included a tea candle (for setting the mood), a towel to clean up the mess afterward, a pair of my undergarments sprayed with his favorite body spray, a picture of myself, and a story about when I was "in the mood." That was as visual and literal as I could make it for him.

I try to mix in theme boxes between all the snack foods and personal stuff he needs. I am putting together a box right now that has relaxation items in it like a neck pillow massager, the chinese hand massage balls, a candle and a hand held massager that has the little plastic rollers on it. I'm also putting together a Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day box for my husband. It's just filled with decorations for both holidays so he can decorate his room. Plus my daughter added some valentine's cards for my husband's soldiers, you know the kind the kids give at school. In the last box I sent him, I put a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly and a package of tortillas. Hope you find something cool to send him!!!! Good luck

Well for one, l hope your husband is doing well over there. My boyfriend JUST left for Ramadi Jan 16. He's been over there once before. So, from his previous deployment l learned a few things- such as what he needs/wants. For this deployment, l know he didnt pack alot of "hygene" items, he just did not have room, therefore in his first packacge not only am l going to include soap, shaving cream and toothpaste etc... But his favorite "snack" foods. Some other great items l like to send along : Batteries(aa- most guys have digital cameras and need batteries) Craisins- make a healthy snack plus they are tasty and easy to share, l normally buy the 5 lb. bag Gatorade Mix- they get tired of water all the time.. good to add to water bottles Book- l know my boyfriend left a few books here requesting l send them Cheez it's- were ALWAYS a big hit with my boyfriend Snickers bars- NOT only his favorite candy but a good snack for him BABY WIPES- they always need baby wipes especially if they are not at a nice FOB or base yet febreeze- makes uniforms and woobies smell ALOT better You know your Husband best :) You know what he likes and dislikes. l know As my boyfriend and l were packing his ruck sack the night before he left, l took mental notes of things he needed and the weeks before of things he especially liked.

Being an ex-vet for Valentines here's what ya do! Buy a nice lingerie and splash it with HIS not your favorite perfume. Put in several index cards with things he can count on (if you know what I mean) that he can "cash in" when he gets home! Don't worry about sending the lingerie it will be as much of a sexual taunt as it will be a joke with his friends.

It will let him know how much you love and miss him and will give him something to look forward to and give him and his buddies a moral boost!

Have fun!

To add on to some of the answers left......yes, go to a Hooters....don't get a calendar, instead get a picture with you and all the hooter girls...send a pair of panties that he knows you have so he knows they are yours and can imagine you in them...I sent my husband a book on different sex positions and wrote on different pages. It is so hard for the both of you, so just go crazy, he may get it and be shocked, but it is something that he would love from you. You could also send a pillow case with your perfume sprayed on it. Hope this helps with some ideas!!! Take Care while he is away!!

Well, this is just me but since its probably really serious over there all the time..I'd send toys. Silly string, those ball on a paddle things, squishy balls, jacks, those wind up plastic airplane things, a deck of cards, dominoes, candy, a rubics cube, one of those electronic 20Q games (the thing that asks you 20 questions and tries to guess what you're thinking of).. Just stuff corny and fun that he can mess around with. I obviously dont know what kind of stuff your husband likes but I think that'd be fun and he can mess around with it with the other troops.

Also you could make a video of yourself for him to watch. I think that'd be a great gift if i was away from my loved one. if he doesnt have anything to watch it on, maybe buy him one of those portable dvd players?

I saw on tv once where someone sent a care package to the troops, packed full of Junk food, cookies, chips, candy bars, you name it. They didnt have that kind of stuff where they were and they absolutely loved it. With valentines day coming up, you can really go all out on the chocolate/candy.

My nephew asked for cinnamin toast crunch, cookies, candies - try ones that don't melt easy or m& ms, granola bars, things that they don't get there but are really easy to eat and store. Believe it or not, baby wipes are good, because it is so hot and dusty there they can clean up and feel better fast with those.
My nephew is going back for his third tour there. I pack stuff in those flat rate postal boxes that are done by whatever you can fit in the box not by weight.

Military men love pinup girls! The Navy has quite a few of them. If you know someone that is an artist or you yourself is artistic then you can get a picture done with photoshop or drawn of yourself in the pinup girl style.

Of course you would have to risk the fact that his buddies will most likely see your pinup as well due to lack of privacy among the troops, but I'm sure he will love it!

Examples of pinup girls (photographed or drawn):
