It costs more because more people want it - the law of supply and demand. Someone's cottoned on to the fact that people will buy it even if it costs more because they really want it.

i believe ask your self Bread has 22 slices (they used to promote it as "22 slices present day") i'm no longer particular because I make my personal or purchase authentic bread now. i bypass away both ends until eventually eventually very last because the i imagine the crust facilitates secure some thing of the loaf from drying out as in a timely fashion. If slicing the bread thick only gives you 5 pieces and slicing it regular gives you 10 pieces, to make the same profit per loaf you have to charge twice as much for the thick stuff. Restaraunt logic? passed on to the average consumer. My 2 cents.

its understood by the marketers that people who purchase thicker-cut bread are of a "higher class", and care less about the cost. They cater to the minority, and therefore because there is not as much turnover on the product, its more expensive to stock the product. The cost is passed on to the consumer - voila!

Sandwich or thin sliced bread is for sandwich nourishment [from other ingredients in sandwich] and low cost yet high bread consumption. Thick slice is more expensive because it is the better bread with better ingredients and costs more to purchase supplies
and make.

I pay the same price for a (Kingsmill) thick sliced and a medium sliced loaf in my local supermarket - 88p.
The wholemeal is a few pence dearer.

Because some THICK headed moron priced it higher. He figured he could make more DOUGH while just LOAFING around acting like a HEEL. It turned SOUR DOUGH while he was beating his WHEAT. People have been RAISIN hell about it for a long time, and they have every RYE to feel that way. When all is said and done, we will raise our champaigne glasses and TOAST each others BUNS. Feel free to add to this work ofart.

Cuz people are stupid, marketers are smart, and they know lots of sneaky tactics to make more profit for a lower price. It's pretty sick what their greed has done to all our food!
