The rubber band trick is the simplest and yet it shocks... I'll try to explain in words, but the routine is so visual I'm not sure this will work. First, look at the palm of your hand. Insert a rubber band into two fingers. Then pull the band and close your hand, letting the band press the four closed fingers (of course keep the thumb out of this). Now open your hand. The rubber band will automaticly junp to the other two fingers. Do this trick avoiding the kid seeing the manouver. Then let him try. A little practice will make these steps to be performed very fast. Good luck, Copperfield.

Penny in the arm.
Show the child the penny, place your left hand under your chin and your elbow on the table. with your right hand show the penny to the child and annouce your going to rub the penny right into the skin of your arm.
start rubbin the penny on your arm. expain you may have to do this a couple of times.
let the penny slip. use your left hand to pick up your penny and place it in your right hand, rub again
"drop it" again. use your left hand to put the penny in your right hand.
Each time you use your left hand to place it in your right, show it to them, and ask them to keep an eye on it.
Drop it one more time
use your left hand to pick up thepenny, but palm it at this point, and only pretend to put it in your right hand.
Rub.
Vioia! the penny is gone... rubbed into your arm.
offer the child to feel the penny under your skin.
"Can you feel it? it' s right there."
The only way is to push it out- under the skin until it can come out of your ear.
Pretend to push on the skin of the arm and up the shoulder and up to your ear using your right hand.
use your left hand (with the palmed penny in it) to take it out of your ear.
This kept my THEN 8 year old guessing for a little bit.
HE KNEW soemthing was fishy, but could not quite explain why.
