Actually you run a higher risk of getting skin cancer in a tanning due to the fact that the UV lights are about 6 inches from your skin. When i was modeling I had a friend who only used tanning beds and about 3 years later she found out she had skin cancer, She never went into the sun without sun block so you tell me, what do you think?

Tanning beds are just as bad for your skin as light from the sun. UVA and UVB rays can cause permanent damage to the deepest layer of your skin, therefore turning them in to cancerous cells. Make sure your moles are brown (not black), have even edges and are less than 5mm. if you are concerned see a dermatologist quickly. Melanoma (skin cancer) when treated early is 94% cureable. When it invades deeper tissues though, it has easy access to your blood and gets everywhere.

All of science is theory. It is likely, however, that sun beds cause cancer, as it is likely that the sun does.

Tannings beds are artificial and it has been shown that they do cause cancer. One thing i would like to say is that natural Sunlight is not as bad as we hear. Problem is too much Sunlight is bad. Some exposure to Sunlight everyday is actually very beneficial and healthy. Please note i say some exposure and not hours of sun bathing.
