Forget the bad breath, you can see the effects of the mites!
Ear mites produce mite poop, which looks like gummy dirt in your cat's ears. Your cat will scratch his/her ears to the point of creating sores on his or her head.
This really can turn into quite a serious situation, so after trying to clean out your cat's ears gently, with cotton balls moistened with water, take your cat to the vet, where his/her ears can be flushed and treated.

Ear mites have nothing to do with bad breath in the cat.
Symptoms? Your cat will shake it's head a lot... put it's ears down, scratch at its ears if it has mites. There is mite crap that is left by the mites and makes the inside of the cat's ears look dirty and grimey. There are commercial treatments that you can get at the local pet store, but your Veterinarian has better medicine to get rid of the mites.
As far as the bad breath goes, it may be gingivitis or your cat may have an upset tummy. Licking his butt has nothing to do with his bad breath. But I wouldn't be kissing him on the mouth, either. The bad breath is another anomaly that you should run by your vet when you take your cat in for the ear mite treatment.

If your cat has a brown wax type matter in her ear and her EAR smell there is a good chance she has mites The only way to truly tell is to take her to the Vet, a simple look under the microscope and a few ear drops will clear the mites up within a few days but do it as soon as you can I'm sure your cat will be grateful

Ear mites have nothing to do with a cats mouth. That is why they are ear mites. If you look in your cats ears and there looks like there is a lot of dirt. Your cat might also have little scabs and scratches around her ears from them itching so badly. I suggest you take her to the vet

Haven't heard of mites causing bad breath. Usually if they're bad, there's a lot of black dry crusty material in there, and if you rub the base of their ears, they scratch their back legs like crazy. If it's really really bad mites, you'll actually see that black stuff moving if you look close enough.

If your cat has earmites, you'll notice tiny black flaky particles in his ear. The cat will be scratching his neck and ears and shaking his head very often too. Earmites are relatively simple to treat - but you need a vet for that. As for bad breat - in cats, it may mean gingivitis or periodontal disease. The vet needs to check your cat's mouth and teeth to see if kitty has any dental issues. Usually a professional teeth cleaning will be inorder and then you need to brush your cat's teeth every day.

no thats not true. acids in their stomachs cause it. Ear mites are caused by certain oil buildup in his/her ear. most get it from bacteria outside. ear mites are brown, and they are disgusting. your cat's eye will twitch when you clean his ear with a q tip and he will look like it itches.
