I ask this because I recently asked a question regarding the long-term effects/dangers of anal intercourse, and received a good answer, but one that defaulted, in the end, to raising questions about moral/spiritual attributes? I know the whole biblical origin of "sodom"--sodomy-- And though I don't agree with it, I know it's often attributed to homosexual males--which of course, unfortunately, carries its own set of religious red flags. I am a straight female, who holds extremely liberal political ideas, and I am not a Christian. My philosophy is immaterial, as I don't feel that anal sex or any sex for that matter, should be looked at in conjunction to religion.

As it happens I am a Christian, and relatively conservative on a number of issues, but completely agree with you that sexual matters involving consenting adults shouldn't be addressed purely from a religion perspective.

Anal sex is a excellent example. It is extremely difficult to get a question relating to anal sex to post here on Yahoo Answers without some member of the morality police complaining that you have violated some biblical tenant that they have interpreted for everyone else's benefit.

I have tried asking several questions concerning anal sex, mostly wondering aloud if my enjoying it (yes I said that I enjoy anal) places me in such a minority and those questions are either deleted or never appear in the main list of questions for that category.

I don't think myself to be so terribly out of the ordinary but few women, even if they would be given the opportunity, will admit to enjoying anal and if they should do so, (gasp, shudder) some wanna be prophet will be right along to blast them as being in league with the devil or repeat the tired old myths that it leads to anal cancer or a dramatic loss of rectal control.

It isn't necessary to be a non Christian or extremely liberal to feel as you do. Solidarity

this is because the religious right don't want to be their greed to be exposed so they want to focus the scrutiny on others. Take the caribbean for example where buggery (anal sex) and battyman (sodomite) are frowned upon. The politicians make a scapegoat out of gays in order to rally the people behind them, knowing that if they weren't busy "bunning out the chi chi," they'd probably be targeting the politicians instead. It's kinda like the Nazis killing off Jews.

Here in America it serves as a theme to create division among the masses in order to distract us from real problems and the politicians creating those problems.

To Divide and Rule, That is their whole plan.

Some myths in many Christian countries like Greece believe that when Adam and Eve were told not to eat the apple from the tree of paradise was actually not to perform anal sex. Since Eve gave the apple to Adam it means to some she gave permission to Adam to perform anal sex.

Some religious people define sin as "anything a person may enjoy and I disapprove of" So that is the answer. There is nothing in the bible about anal sex...nothing. If you and your partner are open to it, enjoy and do not let the opposition make you feel bad. All sex, consentual sex anyway, is about expression. Express yourself as you will. And protect yourself.
