From all your excellent answers, I've deducted that this is not a sty. It dosen't hurt, and seems to have nothing in it. Mor like a bump atop my eye lid. Thanks all. :)

If you have had it over a year it is doubtful that it is a sty. A sty is usually caused by an ingrown eye-lash and is very painful. They will fester and eventually come to a head. You will have to do something then because the pain is almost unbearable. Normally, if you pull the lash out and apply a little pressure with a q-tip it will drain. I think that you should see an opthamologist and have it checked as it may not be a sty but a cyst which will have to be removed.

Typical treatment for a sty consists of applying warm compresses to the affected eye for 10 to 15 minutes four times daily for several days. This not only relieves pain and inflammation but also helps the sty ripen faster. Be sure to close your eye while you apply the compresses. When the sty comes to a head, continue applying warm compresses to relieve pressure and promote rupture. Do not squeeze the sty. Let it burst on its own.

If stys recur, your doctor may prescribe an oral antibiotic. Take the antibiotic as directed.

Minor surgery may be needed to completely drain a sty. After applying a local anesthetic, your ophthalmologist opens the sty and removes the contents. The eyelid usually heals quickly.

If you've had it over a year it may not be a sty, it may be a chalazion.
If it is, it needs to be lanced and drained by a doctor. It's MUCH easier than it sounds. Make sure you pick a doctor who's done many of them.

Before you do this, try a last ditch effort to open it up by devoting a whole day to putting very hot compresses on it and seeing if it will come to a head and drain that way. Chances are little after a year, but I think it's worth one last try. If nothing happens it probably is a Chalazion.
Good luck.

There is no way you had that Sty for a year but put warm compresses on it and if it doesn't go away after a few days you will probably have to go to the doctor to get eye drops.

You know what they say............if you wasn't peeing in the alley you would have never have got that sty.

like a sty on your eye? i had one maybe a year or so ago. i was told to clean it gently, with baby type soap so it won't hurt your eye, and then press a hot towel against it. it draws the infection out I guess. it helped. i also saw a doctor and they gave me a gel to put along the lid of the eye closest to the sty. maybe seeing a doctor is what you should do.

I've never heard of a sty lasting a year. I had one and was told to place a hot cloth to it. The st ye broke and never came back. maybe you should have this checked by a doctor.

Sty's don't last for a year, only for a few days. Time to see an Opthamologist!
Good Luck!

It's not a sty if youv'e had it over a year, it's a growth, you need to get it taken off. Go see an Opthalmologist.

First off...this might be late...dont touch it! Second if you wear contacts, take em out. Third you need to go to a doctor. A family doctor will be fine. They will give you a drop and boom, it shall be no more.

I used to have these all the dang time when I was little. I thought the drop was called Neosporin so one time ( I was little) instead of telling my mom I used that ointment in my eye. Er...i dont reccomend it.
