Light colours make a room look bigger.
If you do the walls in 2 sections, it will make it look higher as well.. for example white wainscoting on the bottom third of the wall and a pale painted colour above.
Congratulations.
That is the correct spelling of colour, Razor. And I'm not a Brit either.

The Best colors to apply in a room for a new mom & baby,
Keep all the trim in classic or antique white preferably in eggshell
base, and if you have low ceilings a Champaigne or Standish white (Benjamin Moore) paint, on the walls would be beautiful. CEILINGS should ALWAYS Always be painted ceiling white you can check with your paint dealer no matter where you purchase the paint make sure they sell you (Low Odor) usually the product will be a latex paint. But that lessen's the fumes, also there is Scientific Study that proves babies don't sleep well in rooms painted in RED, I don't know why but it tends not to be soothing to them, We have (6) kids & I know this 2B true. Also we are a professional Paint Contractor & we take care of a lot of Residential Customers& Commercial Resturants and there are certain colors that just naturaly turn people off even to the point of not eating! Good Luck and Congrats"

Bright colors like yellow and white seem more inviting & open because they reflect light. Enlarge the look of a room with soft shades of yellow paint or small wallpaper prints in soft colors.
By positioning mirrors in the right places, you have the power to make any room appear larger.
Paint woodwork around doors, windows, floors, and ceilings the same color as the wall. When woodwork is painted in a contrasting color or left natural, it emphasizes the windows and doorways and makes a room look smaller. In a small room, draperies and upholstery should blend with the walls and have little pattern. Large patterns in a small room will make the room seem smaller.
If the room is small, combine prints that are color related and use solid colors for the background area. Solid colors on the walls and floor and low contrast in color of prints will make the room look larger.

A light color like a pale yellow. That color brightens a room. Also placing a mirror across from a window helps too because it makes the room look like it has another window.
May mother and baby be healthy and have a happy life.

Combine the two answers above. Light colors and a few mirrors will make a room appear larger than it is.

we remodeled a house and on one wall of a small living room we put a plywood that look like white Wayne's coating(vertical wood slats)., painted it bright white, and trimmed it in molding. The other walls we painted Grey/sand color. This very, very cheep to do and looks great in small rooms.Try pottery barn. They will send you a catalog for free. The stuff is a little pricey but, you can get good ideas. Light colors in a small room is'nt always true.try bombay too.good luck!!

OK, first paint all of the walls a light color use mirrors on one wall (not a wall with window(s)). Keep the clutter down (or non existent). And lastly, when you decorate use few and large object. In other words instead of a table full of many little things use 3 larger things. Also, keep them in various sizes. Sound complicated but it’s not.

any pastel color will make a room look bigger along with a few mirrors. if your bed is a double size or bigger you could change it out with a studio bed. it would give you a bit more room to move around in so that you won't feel so cramped in. also you can buy a port-a-crib for the baby and invest extra money for a good mattress for it.
many blessings to you and your new baby.

Light colors is the way to go, but make sure to use 2 shades darker for one wall to create depth. Use the same color to paint the ceiling or you may use a lighter shade, but make sure to use a flat paint to avoid reflection from any light. Citrus colors are fun, pleasant and bright. Citrus is the color of the year.
