The Pope ignores alot of things the bible says. Friday evening at sundown becomes Saturday and ends when the sun goes down Saturday, which becomes Sunday. Friday night into Saturday night is the sabbath. And God did say to keep it holy. Along with all of the other sabbaths and holy days. He really wants us to acknowledge it and honor it because of what He says in His word about it. It keeps our eyes on the one true God, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.

God told the Hebrews that the 7th day of the week was to be their sabbath. It was also the day that God rested after he
made the earth and everything in it.
For Christians, we usually go to church on Sunday because
that is the day the Lord was resurrected after the Cross. The Apostle Paul said that any particular day we worship
is not that important because as a Christian, we are to
worship everyday. Most Christian churches have traditionally held Sunday as church day.

Sabbath was established as a command for the Jews.
Is your church Jewish?
Are you a Jew?
Are you still under the Law?
Gathering to worship on Sunday does not take away from the sabbath's intent as a day of rest.
Saturday will always be Sabbath.
The church can give Jesus the first day of the week, which is more akin to giving God our first-fruits, rather than our last.

There was no "church" when those commandments were written.
Jesus founded the church in new covenant times, in order to more fully distribute the fruits of his perfect sacrifice for sin.
New covenant rules apply, according to the authority Jesus gave only to his church, which includes the authority to bind and loose, both on earth and in heaven.
That certainly covers it!
The Pope doesn't ignore the Bible. He just ignores protestants who think they know the Bible better than God's own church does.
The Pope's authority comes directly from God. Where did you get yours?

In 1350ce Pope Constantine,in a political move, decreed Sunday, which is actually the first day of the week,Christians day of worship. This was to drive another wedge in separating HIS church from Jews and Muslims who still to this day maintain the sabbath as originally designated.

You have to understand what the "Sabbath" is in scripture. The Sabbath was made for man not man for the Sabbath. It began as day of rest, when the Lord finished all that he had plan to make and hallowed the seventh day and sanctified it, calling it the "sabbath". As we progress through Jewish history it then grew to include a sabbath of weeks, and a sabbath of years, and then a "sabbath year" then there was the "Jubilee" which was the 50th year ending a seventh seventh year the next being the 50th, and God commanded that land was to rest every 7th year and the 49th, 50th years and if they would do so He would give them such a bounty in the 48th year that it would be enough for three years! Then there was a "Sabbath day that was prefiguring the end of all rest days a permanent day of rest" that Sabbath was fulfilled in Christ for He is our Rest which we have entered into. When He was crucified on Friday, rested in the tomb on Sat, rose again on Sunday the day of His resurrection commemorates His victory of death hell and the grave, that is why we worship of Sunday the advent of the first Resurrection of Christ from the dead. All who have accepted Jesus Christ have entered into that "rest" which is the "Sabbath rest for the people of God"

The Bible doesn't say that Saturday is the day we should go to church. It DOES indicate that Sunday was the day the early Christians gathered together to break bread, i.e., celebrate the Eucharist.
"On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread..." -- Acts 20:7

where in the bible does it say we should go to church on any certain day? Saturday was the sabath, the day they rested, not went to chruch. there is no such thing as church in judaism. christians believe they should take "a" sabath day off of work, any of the 7 days is ok. There's nothing sacred about sunday.

the jewish was taught that the sabbath was from 6 pm friday-6 pm saturday. the christian jews witnessed/worshiped with the orthodox jews on staurdays and met with each other on sundays. now then, for christians, Jesus rose from the dead on sunday so we celebrate/worship on sunday for that reason. Jesus fulfilled the prophecies so most believe the day was switched to sunday. Basically the reason started out practical and is now traditional. My father believes christians should do both. Saturday for health rest, and Sunday for worship.
