How many times must we hear, our ancestors 300 years ago came to here,making it sound like it was only yesterday they rolled ashore.Those people have come and gone. The word has changed and so have the laws.This is not the same world it was 300 years ago. It seems like the Mexicans quest to live here involves people can come here illegally whenever they want. Is there some reason to why we cannot have a border ?

I agree.I have spent years researching my family tree.I can tell you when the first of my family arrived here,the ship they sailed on,the taxes they paid on their land and livestock.My family has been here since the 1700's.Yes,the laws were different back then,but they followed the rules as they were at that time.There was no free health care,no welfare,no housing allowances.They worked hard.Some started churches,which are still in existence today.They did not kill the Native Americans in the area,instead,welcomed them to the churches and into the communities that were starting.We have many Native American graves in our church cemetery.I'm tired of hearing the excuse that we are all immigrants.It is getting old.

You can have a border, but you keep voting for Republicans whose big business backers want to keep cheap voiceless labor available, so they'll never do anything serious about immigration. This proposed "fence" will be just another joke that everyone can walk through. By the way, there are LOTS of illegal immigrants who didn't come from Mexico or across any border---they flew in from Europe by plane and just stayed. Happens all the time.

If they come here legally that's great but, Partner when you and I have to follow rules and regulations of our great nation why should we watch as these illegal donkey jockeys jump the border and get away with it. Immigrants are one thing ..Illegal immigrants are another...our ancestors learned the language ..applied for citizenship..they didn't jump a fence in the dead of night with drugs strapped to their backs..they tried to make a better life AS a US citizen...they didn't fly their flags of another country and they didn't protest in the streets DEMANDING their rights...they worked hard to make this a better country...and they did...they can get over it.
