Not nearly long enough.. In some states it's a felony.. Here, it's a misdeameanor.. I bet if they did a study of the people who are in prison for murder they would find out that most of them had in some way tortured or hurt an animal prior to killing a human.. Animal abuse should be considered a FELONY everywhere.. As a dog lover, I can't imagine how anyone can do that.. I think the same thing should be done to the abuser that they do to the animal..ie) starve them, tie them to a pole outside in freezing weather, etc..

who would do that to a dog anyways. That is the sign of a serial killer. I have owned dogs my whole life and would never think about doing that to anyliving creature. Well maybe my ex but thats another question. It all depends on the judge, the state and how seriouse the dog was hurt. Thats a shame. They should get 50 to life.

Someone who abuses an animal has to pay a fine of up to $10,000 and spend up to 5 years in prison, depending on how bad the case is.

It really depends on the state you live in. Here in Arkansas, if convicted you could face 1 year and $1,000 fine.

It probably varies from state to state, and depends on the type of animal abuse. Personally, I hope it is for life.

There is no 1 answer to your question, it depends on what jurisdiction you are in and the nature of the offense.
