I'm having outpatient surgery next week, a look into my belly thru a scope, and am stuck on finding a solution on how to get home after.
I live in a small-medium sized town with no public transportation, and no usable cab service.
I'm not from here, so don't have family here. Few and just casual friends, and cannot ask them to take off of work.
They will not do the surgery [obviously] unless you have a way home. You're supposed to have someone stay with you that night also.
What do people do that are alone?
Thanks for any input.

call the hospital and see if they have a service or know of a service that can assist you I know that a few churches in our town assists people with transportation to and from doctors visits or helps with errands if you were my neighbor I would help you out

Contact the Hospital and see if they have a hospice program.... If you attend a Church or Synagogue or other house of worship, that may also be a possible resource as far as a ride home. I think that you "SHOULD" be ok overnight... if I am understanding the procedure correctly, it isn't terribly invasive, but you may have some discomfort. Hope this helps and good luck with the procedure.

They normally take a cab. If no cab service is available then call your local job and family services( Welfare) they do have a medical transportation vehicle and explain to them the situation if not call the salvation army or local church.

See if there is a Visiting Nurse Association in your town. Ask your doctors office what others have done in your situation. I'm sure you aren't the only one.

Saves money. Studies show people recover better in their home environment. And you have less chance of catching a hospital infection.

i;m sure that if you explain your situation to your "casual" friend(s) that one of them will be more than happy to help, sometimes the greatest of things can happen with only a simple question being asked. if not ask your dr. if they have any advice to help get you home, they can sometimes give more than medical advice to help their patients out
