But no one will let me! should i do it? would I be good b/c i danced? I have been practicing without coaches and I don't stay in the air that long! There will be a lot of boring technique work at each practice but hurdles are a great event if you get it, You may have great flexibility, but first remember just because you can do a perfect jump in dance won't necessarily make you a good hurdler. Hurdles isn't about jumping it's bout running a 100/300/400m then negotiating a barrier. Your lead leg must not be too exaggerated or too much different than the last step on the ground. you need quick step transition, quick lead.trail leg, hey but try it you may just do it,

I love this quote
"Hurdlers are sprinters with a problem. They're not satisfied just to sprint. Anybody can sprint, some not as well as others of course, but anybody can sprint. Not everybody can run hurdles. There's an extra dimension involved. Hurdlers would make a good subject for a thesis in psychology - they are of a persuasion that just needs an extra dimension."

Do what you want to do. Do both if possible. Here's the deal though: usually, the longer distances you run, the flatter you become (meaning you can't jump as high/far). It may be more difficult to do both, but if you want to, there's a way.
