I assume you were taught to pumb the brake pedal in ice in a car without ABS... that is what you should do so you can remain in control... With ABS you can just stomp on the pedal because the breaks do the pumping for you preventing the breaks from locking.
Basicly, with abs, in ice and snow. press the pedal firmly and steer with a light touch.

Yes, with ABS you simply stomp on the pedal and let the computer do the rest. With normal brakes, you need to have two more working brain cells and be able to control the vehicle like you license says you can, and vary the pressure on the brake pedal to not lock up the brakes.
In EITHER case, you cannot stop any faster with ABS than you can without them. An inch of ice is an inch of ice, and ABS cannot take the place of rubber on pavement.
If ABS worked so much better than driver skill then Formula 1 cars would use it, and they can pull over 4 G's during braking without any help.

the computer controls the brakes if it detects the wheels are about to lock up. when the brake pedal starts to pulse and vibrate, the computer is doing the braking, and it will pump the brakes alot faster than any human.

Yes, don't pump the brake pedal. Just maintain a steady pressure on the pedal and consentrate on steering the vehicle.
