that no where in the bible does it say that Satan and his angels actually hurt mankind, It does say however, on multiple occasions that whenever Satan or any of his angels came in contact with humans, he gave them power and Knowledge. God can not handle the fact that humans do not want him here and he always kills innocence...the world turned his back on 'Him' Aeon's ago when 'Satan' cam and gave us the truth...He cant have us so no one will...spoiled brat!

the bible is completely metaphor...for those of you that never caught on....

well for one I would like to state that Satan was only evil because he did not think he had to listen to god.....you use the book of Job to say that Satan did this to Job...no actually GOD did everything to Job because of a few comments made by Satan...

Oh and for the record I never said you had to listen to me, I only asked a question....

And Mr Bobby Jim~
You quote Job 2:7 but not all of it......
If you read all of that chapter God gives permission to Satan to hurt Job....so really is it the king who gives the command or the soldiers who do the Kings bidding who are at fault?
Not to mention all of the other scriptures you gave us, there wasnt anything about Satan Harming mankind, it was God saying that Satan is bad....bias opinion...
So Mr Bobby Jim...you did this to yourself....

I do agree. First I'd Like to address the 7th grade attitude that many of you have shown here this evening toward this womans post and quoting partial bible scripts is of no real value in any case my friend and the attacks in seemingly retaliation to a mere question is totally immature and poor social skills. Do you think your god would want a bunch of little child minded babies arguing in his behalf or a reasonable wise spoken person to teach the unbeliever. did not Christ out stretch his hand to a whore in the town who was being stoned for sinning as they were any better the she? A sin is a sin and he spoke against them though they thought they served and knew him. He "according to your doctrine" has done the same for each of you and still you act like babies fighting over a toy. The fact is that the story of Job clearly indicates that God betrayed his own license and word and succumb to temptation to ego. he had to prove himself at the expense of job. job was a pawn to show gods greatness and so therefore suffered. god gave satan permission to do these things to job , pretty much told him to do it to demonstrate his dominion over man(Job). So what if Job got rewarded in the end the fact is that is a pay off to the guy so he can live with himself for doing this he killed jobs family by the hand of Satan the hit man and then feels like its ok because he gave Job a new wife and kids. would that make you fel better? The point is she is right and you are shallow minded children. "None are righteous..Not one!"
"Judge not, lest Ye be judged thyself" and kindly in the same manner as you would judge another. Thats the problem with the world today many of god's children find themselves blameless and have forgiven themselves in the name of Christ. this is not true salvation. You cal yourself "Christian" but who among you is Christ-Like? Religion is to be repetitive or almost obsessed with something to the degree of total dedication. Religion means to do it again and again. so do it again guys because your doing it wrong!

I know exactly what your talking about. I am a Christian but because I have been 'sucked in', so to speak, when I was younger by other 'religions' claiming the truth, that I get frowned upon every once in awhile when I question others. But I don't question the Bible as much as I question and examine other peoples viewpoints THROUGH the scriptures. People, even some that call themselves Christians and even are well meaning, are very judgemental. I think they get wrapped up in the wrong thing, trying to point out others 'wrong thinking' and therefore they don't find time to examine there own. 1 Thes 5:21,22 21. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And then: 2 Chronicles 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? My point is that if we don't ask questions and study all the variations of beliefs, how are we to know what is 'good' or 'evil'. So we need to do this for ourselves, NOT others. God will guide you as you grow in Him. Hang in there and just try to understand that the trials we go through will prove to make you strong and wise.......and patient. : ) Good question and God Bless

Well it started in the garden of Eden. You know, the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Wanted to pull the cloak over our eyes forever. I totally agree. I always felt if god really cares that I pray to him and call him exactly as he says in the Bible then he is totally vain and petty. Don't want to be worshiping that. The other option is, the image of god is flawed because it was created by humans who are flawed and can't see outside their paradigm and human mind.
Oh and the story of Job people. This is the exact kind of story that shows god is petty. To prove to the Satan that there are those that would not spite god even in the face of ultimate catastophy he lets Satan kill Jobs family, unleash boils upon him and so forth. Gee thanks god for letting him do that so you can prove a point to Satan. See, I thought you were god and didn't have to answer to anybody, least of all Satan. So, in a way, Satan even tempted god to do evil things? Is that what you are saying. What a crock of $hit.

I am a wee bit confused. Is the entire Bible a metaphor? For different things, or the same thing? What about the portions that speak about Satan and his empowering actions? Is that a metaphor as well? Are you saying that you trust what the Bible says, or do you only trust what it says about Satan?

Hmmm ... my bible says satan is a great deceiver and the father of all lies. If you believe those lies you're in for a world of hurt. Satan didn't grant anyone power and knowledge. But he did a great job of convincing people they had new powers and knowledge. Big difference.

BTW, check out the book of Job. Satan did a whammy on that guy – wiped out his family, his home, his money and made all these nasty festering boils pop up all over Job's body.

Job refused to even think ill of God. In the end, God restored Job's health, gave him a new family and twice the riches as before.

Just for the record check out satan's job on Job. As for the Bible being completely metaphor -
1. get a dictionary so you can learn metaphor does not include history, poetry, allegory, or parable...oh, myth as well.
2. read the whole Bible.

Excuse me, but there are examples in the Bible where Satan actually hurt people. There is accounts of demon possession, the story of Job, the only reason Job wasn't killed was God would not let Satan take his life. Try Judas Iscariot, Satan, entered him to betray Christ and Judas ended up killing himself. Perhaps you and some others do not want God, but as for me and my house God is honoured. Wide is the road to destruction and many are on its path. Satan is a liar and a thief, who comes to steal, kill and destroy. The father of lies, who blinds the eyes of many, open your eyes!

If you take a little gander around the Earth you can see that we cannot handle knowledge and power correctly. It would ultimately lead to our doom. Besides, nobody really wants to know the truth. They think they do, but just like in The Matrix it is so much more comfortable and beautiful in the dream world.

Sorry if I didn't give you the answer you wanted. Gee, almost like the truth I just described. I also know exactly what you are talking about, and I believe the part about Satan bringing knowledge and power to mankind.

We have different beliefs about man wanting God. Those who know him love him more than life itself. Without him we wouldn't exist and no one would have a choice to make between loving and hating him. Satan didn't give man anything that man wouldn't have had if Adam had passed the test of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil except disease, decay, death, corruption, murder, rape, and the list goes on. That wasn't God's plan but the devil knew exactly what he was doing. He's lied to you because he is a liar and the father of lies.

I belive that! =) Nowhere in the bible says that he could. Satan could just tempt us to do something that is bad and it is with us if we would listen to what he and his followers say. If we follow Satan's temptation, that is the time we could hurt others. But he could not cause destruction nor cause calamities to people, only God has the power to do verything and thus He lets all of these happen to teach people.

=)
