people are born into their religions, and some people decide that what they have been taught since forever just doesn't sound right, and decide to take a different path, but in my experiences, i've found that people tend to go back to that religion they were born into, even if it doesn't satisfy their needs in it :(

It depends on the person.

You might stay with your religion because you don't really care much about spirituality, so that's the easiest choice. You know this is the case when you ask someone what their religion is and they say someting like, "Well, my family is Catholic..." These people fill out the "Catholic" bubble on religious surveys even though they probably haven't been to a church since their wedding day. (The high number of such people accounts for the false statistic that 75% of Americans are Christian.)

Adults who are spiritually oriented choose their religion after careful consideration. It may or may not be the faith of their parents, but they are still choosing it.

In general, though the history of the world, the overwhelming majority of people remained in the religion they were born into.

There have been times and places of mass conversions, and these days there's more swapping around than ever before, but most people who have ever lived lived and died in the religion of their parents.

And, given the variety of belief and attitude within every religion, most were probably able to hold their religions without major problems. (That is, there are narrow-minded and more open-minded versions of every religion -- the more open-minded people interpret their religion to suit their thinking.)

People who are logical thinkers choose their religion through logical reasoning. People who are lazy just believe what they were born to without finding answers to their questions in religion.

People who choose tend to be more faithful, because they've usually questioned it and investigated it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being born into a religion, but instead of just listening to their Pastor, Rabbi or whoever, they should also look into their religion themselves.

Born into them. A majority of kids accept their parents religion without ever finding out about others. Kinda like a cult.

Everyone will tell you that they chose their religion through a long process of careful reasoning.

In fact almost everyone adopts the religion of their parents and/or peers. The only real significant exceptions are when people become atheists and when people marry people of other religions.

Most people are "born into" their religions. Very few people have the ability to think for themselves-even about questions of such great magnitude.
