Vents... that's gonna be tough. Here's some hints which might help, but getting to the root of the problem in air vents will be a challenge because of its location. First, dried cat urine flouresses bright green/yellow in a flourescent black light. (so does human urine, so don't take it by your toilet, you'll disgust yourself) This will help you find it, if you can actually get to it in your case. DO NOT use a detergent to clean it, it won't work and will make it harder to remove. When you find it, go to a pet store and get an enzyme based cat urine remover and follow label instructions exactly. It's not soap, so don't use it like soap.

What you're really smelling isn't actually cat urine, it's the waste of bacteria that feeds on salts in cat urine. Gross, but it mainly endangers your nose. The enzyme cleaner causes a bacterial explosion that consumes all the salts and then dies of starvation. Expect the enzyme cleaner to make it smell worse for a while until it dries up and the smell is gone.

Finding a way to find the urine in your vents and apply the enzyme will definitely be a challenge. Unfortunately I can't help you there since I have no idea what your vent setup is like. Best of luck there. Wow... vents. I feel for you.

One glimmer of hope though... people have a tendency to learn to block out the smell and you won't notice it after a while. Also, the salts will eventually be consumed by the bacteria naturally so eventually it won't smell anymore. It will be a long wait though.

they make this stuff called skunk-out you might try that, or maybe clean out the vents with tomato juice. I think I would have to find the male cat that is spraying and take him for a ride.

they came in the vents? well, they obviously peed in them and it is likely that the only way to get rid of the smell would be to replace the vents. you could try to clean them, but that would be really difficult to do. sorry, but your options are limited in this situation if the smell is truly coming from the vents. cat pee is the WORST smell to get rid of. usually, you have to replace things to truly eliminate odors.
