I've been doing woodworking for over 6 years now on a daily basis, and my hands are always dry but its usually not bad or noticeable until i take a shower then its really bad and rough.

For example, tying a silk tie I could just about get it to snag on the skin on my hands, and it feels gross, the thing is i dont like how most lotions feel, slimy or slippery. I have heard that there are some out there made specifically for the woodworker in mind.

Thanks.

Now, when you say "woodworking" just what kind of wood are we talking about? For regular "wood" you can use any lotion for that activity. Obviously you do it alot if you have calluses on your hands. Please slow down!!!!

You have to buy OPI Avojuice Skin Quenchers. It's the only moisturizer I have found that I can put on once in the morning and my hands feel great all day!!! This lotion does not leave your hands feeling greasy or slippery. I realize you are a woodworker and wouldn't want to smell feminine, but the smell truly goes away in a minute or two. Besides, my husband has worn my coconut one. You can get it online by typing it in as the keyword or at a beauty supply house or salon. Good Luck!

Hi Overseaz,
I don't know about a lotion especialy made for woodworkers but have you ever tried cornhuskers lotion. It is very good. It feels like it is going to be greasy at first but just rub it in. It's great for over worked hands!!
Hope it works,

As a mason, I also have the dry skin thing. This regimen takes some getting used to but works phenomonally well. You want to get some bag balm. That is both what it is called and a brand name. Formulated for application to the udders of cows after removing industrial milking equipment, it is some serious sh*t where moisturization is what you're looking for. It is also the consistency of vaseline and does not absorb quickly. The best way to use it is to get a pair of sterile cotton gloves( any drug store should have ) slather your hands generously with the bag balm, and cover with the gloves just before going to sleep. You will awake in the morning with hands as soft and conditioned as a baby's behind.

Cornhuskers. I use it on rough, dry areas (like my elbows).
