I've tried the David Clark X11 and the Bose Aviation X, each on a 1.5 hour flight. I definitely don't like the Bose, the on-ear design hurts the cartilage in my ear from squeezing it down against my head. I like the X11, but I'm curious if there are some other good ANRs out there for less money.

I typically fly anywhere from 2 to 8 hours a day, so I'm looking for something that is light and comfortable after a lot of wear. Anyone have a recommendation that may beat the X11 in value?

I am not a pilot myself but I work in the aviation industry and most of the pilots that worked for me seemed to like the Telex headsets, you can research all different types of headsets on http://www.sportys.com/

Good Luck!

There are plenty of cheaper ANR headsets out there, David Clark has several models that are cheaper than the top-of-the-line X11, like the H10-13x or H10-20xl/xp. I find them comfortable enough.
You can normally find them on ebay new or slightly used for considerably cheaper than you would pay retail.
I also hear that the Sennheiser headsets are quite good and they are normally a bit cheaper than DC's.

So many great ones to choose from...Pilot Avionics, Sennheiser, Telex and Lightspeed are four brands which I have used...all good. You really should go to a store (or aviation show) and try them on, so you can pick the one you like best.

If you are looking for the best "bang for your buck". when it comes to ANR, any LightSPEED will do. Try the 15XLc model. Sells for about $380 (ANR/PNR) only 15 Oz and tons of little features.
