in russia the women pay for the dates..
I think you should go out with her again, just so you can skip the bill on her again. Sometimes people dont learn on the first try.

I don't think men should have to pay all the time. Traditionally, the men were the ones with jobs so would be in charge of the bills. Things have changed over the last 50 or so years and I believe both men and women should share expenses. If the woman can't afford that she can at least return the favor with a nice home cooked meal or in other small ways like getting coffee later. I think the girl you were dating was extremely rude not to understand your situation and to be so unhelpful. I'm not condoning your actions but she was definitely wrong. It's better that you learned it early. You sound like a down-to-earth guy and you deserve a gal that appreciates and respects you. It doesn't sound to me like that girl did. Cheers!

Personally, I always try to pay, think it's rude not to, at least offer... But it's also very rude and makes a guy look like a fool to try and argue the point of I'm paying no matter what you say, basically f u, I don't care how you feel is how it comes across (I've seen it done)...

Men don't always pay for dates. There are many cultures where this is NOT the case. But unfortunately you don't live there. First I wonder why you agreed to an expensive restaurant. Second I question your judgement for not having a backup plan to pay for dinner.
But all that aside, in a growing and healthy relationship, it is common for a couple to share at least part of the meal. For example you choose an affordable restaurant, you pay for the meal and she leaves the tip.

Men don't always pay for the dates. who ever asked the person out should pay. if you asked this girl out, then it's common courtosy (or whatev) to pay for the date. if she asked you out, which is not common, then she should pay. The only reason why people think that the guys have to pay is beacuse he's normally the one who asked the girl out. And what the hall are you doing at an expensive resteraunt for your first date anyway? i suggest a walk on the beach and eating at a little boardwalk restaraunt.

Prostitution the oldest game in the book and we guys are still falling for it because the Women dress it up and say we are being gentlemanly and justify it by complaining that we are all the same and only after one thing, but hey Ladies some of us like you for your intelligence, your company, country walks and companionship too and know how to keep our brains above our shoulders not below our waistlines
I would never pay a prostitute for her company so that's the reason I stopped dinner dating Women like those, but hey they never give in trying to get me, I still lost the graphics card, and joy stick, out of my PC two weeks ago when an old girlfriend of mine reasoned that her children, yes I said her children, would benefit from it more than me! lol
Well they are great kids and you got to do your bit for cross culture relations with our Jamaican cousins haven't you, but if I ever get it it is going to be the most expensive chicken rice and peas Sunday lunch I'll have ever had by the time I have bought a replacement graphics card! lol
There is only one way to handle Women and that is when you feel you have just seen the girl of your dream for the first time just do this!
Realise that you are lining yourself up for years of nagging and bickering followed by a long and expensive divorce where you will lose everything including your sanity, business, the house and your children that you will nevertheless have to keep paying for while she is living with and making the circuit of your former best friends and even brothers.
The best thing to do the moment you meet is not even exchange names or pleasantries but sign over to her the deeds to your house in return for a signed agreement that she will get out of your life and never see you again.
It will save your sanity, your business, a large wedge of cash and stop an otherwise long and publicly embarrassing divorce that will destroy you and it is the only way you will ever be able to build up the capital to buy another house, and your name won't be tarnished with all the lies they make up about you being a drunkard, no good, lazy, child abusing, wife beating, egotistical, SOB!
I bet that got you going I'm only kidding really! lol but a guy couldn't be blamed if he did think that way sometimes!

It's just polite. In the same way a guy usually opens the door for a girl. But I think it was rude of her to refuse to pay, especially when you said you'd pay her back. Sounds like she's looking for the money and not the man.

alright the REASON its traditional for men to pay is back in the day, men were the ones that worked, so they had the money, so they were supposed to pay. kinda cuz the men were supposed to have more money cuz they worked (circular reasoning, i know). also, men were the ones supposed to ask girls out, not the other way around, which is also why some people think its against the rules for a girl to ask a guy. anyways it kind of evolved into the one who does the inviting or male(s) to pay and became one of those eddiquette things. apparently that chick was old school. im assuming you left because you couldnt pay. you shouldve made it clearer. your route wasnt too shabby though

I like that. In college a group of girls from a sorority would order the most expensive thing on the menu and at the end of the date dump the guy. When she ordered the Surf and turf so did I. I ate mine fast and excused my self to the restroom and slid out the door.
Funny thing is all the girls thought she got what she deserved only a few guys thought I was wrong.

Not all girls are like that... sorry...
I have payed for a couple of my date's treats. Why not? A girl can have a nice detail with a man...
I don't think that leaving her there and running out through the window was the most gentleman thing to do either...
About this girl... well, I think she either had no money or she's just one of those girls that like to suck a guy dry (money-wise, of course...) You are just probably looking in the wrong places...
