my friend was born in belgium, her parents are both american citizens. is she?

yes.Children born to US citizens are automatically US citizens. They may also be eligible for citizenship in the country of birth as well and the US allows dual citizenship with certain countries. Kids are born all the time to americans living abroad..military, emabassy, business people etc and they are all US citizens. Children of citizens are always citizens, but a child can be a citizen while the parents are not. Thats why the preggo illegals love to come accross the border and drop their kids here. The kids are citizens. Called "anchor babies"

My parents were in the military and I was born in Turkey. I had dual citizenship until I was 21 years old. My parents had to go to a Judge and was claimed to be a citizen at birth. This status gives me all the rights of any citizen.

I was born in Germany to a father who at age 2 came to the US with his family LEGALLY. My mother was born in the US to parents that came here legally. My father gained citizenship in the US and served the US army. He actually has and still does have DUEL citizenship. As a result I too have duel citizenship. I lived in Germany for 10 yrs of my life and here in the US for 25. I am legally a US citizen so yes we are american citizens

Yes. Too bad the United States doesn't follow the same policy on illegals that have children here in the US.

i.e. If a couple of Mexicans come to the US illegally and they have a child born here, then their child is automatically a US citizen. Flawed system.

You can be a citizen of the country of birth, but if your parents are US citizens then you automatically become a us citizen too

How could she be an American ? It's the same as someone from Mexico comes here has a child,the child is an American,much the same way this child would be on record as being born in Belgium-Dual citizenship

Yes Indeed .....if she is given a citizenship by Belgium which is not likely ,she will be a Belgian too....But She is also a US citizen.

if her parents are world famous ones or Some Political Figure.their child is likely 2 get a belgian Citizenship..
