This old argument agaim...sigh.... We have a all volunteer military. Nobody can make an adult join the military, regardless of what thier parents do. Following you logic, should a politician not make healthcare choices if their kid isn't sick or a doctor? Should the President not run the Parks Service because his kids don't work there? Federal agents die all the time. Should the politicians not run that either because their kids aren't agents?
Clinton never served, yet he ordered troops to their death.
Read you r last line. "HAD TO VOLUNTEER" How can you have to volunteer?? That would make it mandatory, not voluntary.
Like most liberal statements, yours is pretty high on the dumb and stupid list. For the record, many members of congress, on both sides of the aisle, have children who have heroically decided to VOLUNTEER and serve their nation.
The funny part is, you never hear military personell making your statement. Why is that?

Does it truthfully count? it extremely is not any longer a bipartisan war. Any question (in spite of party association) that replaced into asked replaced into to verify if: a million. Is there sufficient progression to justify the shortcoming of yankee lives and money? 2. How long will it take (if ever) to work out a democratic Iraq? 3. Why is there one in each and every of those enormous discrepency in what Gen Petraeus comments & what the BBC & different international agencies record? Why does the nationwide Intelligence Estimate & the final accountability workplace information no longer jive with the Petraeus & Crocker comments? Why does the UN's record on the variety of Iraqi civilian casualties & Gen Petraeus record no longer even come close? Is it by way of fact there are new regulations for counting the # of ineffective? Like in the event that they are shot interior the back of the pinnacle it gets counted as an insurgents bullet yet while it extremely is a frontal shot it is not counted? How reduculous!! Who cares who's asking the questions? What I care the main approximately is that the main suitable questions are asked & that Petraeus solutions truthfully!! i think of between the main extreme questions replaced into asked via John Warner, a Republican. Does our involvement in Iraq make make the U. S. safer? the respond via Petraeus replaced into "i do no longer understand". Now you tell me, if he does not understand, who does? i will call 3 that I observed during the thinking-Kerry, Webb & Biden.

Well, as I'm sure you already know, the answer to this question doesn't realistically matter. The military is comprised by and large of poor to lower-middle class citizens who are just looking for SOME kind of opportunity. That's no secret, although some people are in denial of that fact. Anyway, I'm sure that the politicians' children and grandchildren have nothing to worry about. Even if there was a draft, you know they'd have some cushy position with no real risk involved.
::Freeman:: Hopefully he's running cause he's seen what a freakin mess it is.

First of all Congress is both the house of the Senate and the House of Representatives. You have fallen into the common belief that Congressman only means Representative but technically you could call a Senator "Congressman. Now to answer your question, We have a volunteer military. Understood, if the sons or daughters of our Congressman want to go, they'll go, k. That's how it works.

I agree 100% on your answer. Yes, let`s have all the government officals have their kids, grandkids and others of their families go in first to Iraq. I bet they will change their idea of sending more troops in if their own will be first.

Why do morons like you always raise the issue of kids? Who cares if their kids serve or don't serve? You seem all too content to crucify the kids for the transgressions of their parents. Grow up already.

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) just made it official that he is running for President today. He has a son of military age who has served 2 seven month tours in Iraq already. I just heard that today.
