Note: I am referring to Jesus' words in John 3. Sorry for any confusion.

Being born-again has absolutely nothing to do with the co-ruling with Christ, striving to be part of the 144,000, doing good works, or local church membership. Salvation is through faith in Christ alone. There were so many excellent answers that demonstrated a clear understanding of this Truth that it was hard to choose only one. Thanks for responding. Keep the Light of Jesus shining untill He returns!

Kim, I will be praying for you today during worship. Keep seeking to know who Jesus is and you will find Him and the gift of eternal life He's promised. God bless you!

36 years ago, when I did not know such a thing was possible, I experienced a sudden life transforming change which I later came to realize was what was described by Jesus in the Third Chapter of John's Gospel as being born again. It occurred at a time in my life when I had become greatly disillusioned with my life personally, but also the nature of things generally. I concluded that if there was a God, and I was in the state I was in and the world was in the mess it was in, then it must be God's fault, because He didn't seem to be doing anything about it. So I told Him to get out of my life. To my surprise, He did. I felt within me that God turned His face from me and let me see what life was like without Him. To make a long story short, my whole existence became drab and joyless and utterly meaningless. I spiraled downward into deep depression and despair. When I thought I could go no lower, I came home one day, fell on my face and started crying. Then a voice spoke into my heart this simple word: "Maybe Jesus really did die for your sins."
Instantly I felt within as if I had been transported from the lowest pit to the highest mountaintop. A flood of light and love and peace and joy and hope drove out the darkness and despair and hopelessness that had possessed me. I had heard the Gospel before, but for the first time in my life I realized it wasn't just a story, but that Jesus really was the Son of God, that He really had died and rose again, and that He did it for me. I have loved Him and sought to live for Him ever since.

This question is answered right there in the passage it is taken from. There is a natural birth and a spiritual birth. A person becomes spiritually born again when they put their trust in Jesus Christ. If a person believes no matter what they call themselves they are Born Again. The world has tried hard to make it into some kind of political group and to put a negative spin on the term. Many people these days will say that they believe in Jesus trust Him with a saving faith but deny they are born again... I think it's a great term. It identifies me as a Child of God... Jim

Yes. Because now I have the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) living in me. However, before conversion, I only had an eternal soul that needed to be born again. I was born once with human blood, but now I am born again with the blood of Christ, and He has given me the Holy Spirit.

Of course I do. I think anyone who is truely a Christian does consider themselves a born again Christian. First I think we must understand what it means to be a Christian. First to become a Christian we must ask God into our heart and believe in the resseruction of Jesus Christ and that he died on the cross to save us from our sins. We then believe it is by God's grace we are saved alone. We also see a change in our attitude. This means we are born again. We have a new life. We are saved and now on our journey with God.

Yes. I consider myself to be born again. I attended right wing churches for close to 20 years which made me very unhappy. Today I have found a wonderful church that I am active in and truly love. I see Jesus working in my life every day and he is making me very happy. I am truly a member of a family of believers and active in the church.

Yes I am. When I was born I was born in sin, so spiritually I had to be born again to live eternally with God, and be His child. The only true Christians are those who have chosen to realize that without Jesus we are dead in our sin, and lost forever, Jesus gave me new life- "I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me."

Yeah. I've been baptised, and have gone through confirmation at my church. I make my spiritual "health" one of the (if not the) top priorityies in my life. I know the Christ longs for a "love relationship" with me, and i long for one with Him as well. My spirit has been reborn so that the minute I accepted Jesus as my Lord, I was forgiven. <><

I do. I believe this because I made a conscious decision to believe God and accept His Son's sacrifice to save me from everlasting death and turn to life. I turned from my old life and followed the ways of Christ instead. This didn't involve doing anything to earn my way as much as it involved believing and having faith that it was already accomplished for me. I just had to accept it and believe.
So, I symbolically died to my old life and was "reborn" or "born again" to a new life through the presence of the Holy Spirit.

No, to be born again means to be begotten as one who will co-rule with Christ in the Heavens.
That number of co-rulers has a limited number, 144,000.
My hope is that after Armageddon, I will help of Jehovah and others who have the same hope as I do, we will turn the earth into a Paradise, like the one given to Adam and Eve before they lost it.

I guess I would like to know your understanding of 'born again'. Jesus goes on to say that what is born of spirit is spirit, what is born of flesh is flesh. I have been born again through the renewal of the Holy Spirit in me. I was born into this world of corruptible seed, but reborn of incorruptible seed. The understanding of this is sometimes not clear but Jesus said "It is finished" on the cross to accomplish this.
