I was so scared when I was a teenager, I ended up not going to the dentist for 10 years! But now I go all the time, because, they have such advances nowadays to keep you calm, there's no reason to avoid it anymore! I have tried nitrous oxide sedation where you breathe it through a face mask, and it relaxes you just great. They could tell you they're going to cut off your nose and you wouldn't care, that's how relaxed you get! And I have done sedation dentistry, where they give you a few pills and you honestly don't remember a thing. You need someone to get you there and take you home though. But that's the way to do it, if you're really scared! You're not even there the whole time you're so out of it! I had 5 capped teeth done at one time, a 4 hour appointment, and I experienced none of it! So there's lots of options. They even have I.V. sedation that totally keeps you sedated. You won't feel a thing or even know you're there! And these things have been developed for us scaredy cats and they do work. No reason to have fear anymore! You'll be okay, but look around for the right dentist as not all offer these features.

I am....I have this thing with pain....needles, dentists, mosquitos... I HATE pain. So I'm always jumpy when I go. Just be sure to let the dentist know that you're VERY sensitive, and they (if they're a good doctor) should do everything possible to accommodate you.

And don't feel silly or anything. I'm 25 years old. My 51 year old father hates dentists too. But I try to remember that if my teeth aren't healthy, then the rest of my body can debilitate as well. And I go because I knew someone who was in her 60s and had had dentures since she was in high school. Yeah.....I try to prevent that.

Nope, not anymore. I take really good care of my teeth, brush twice a day and floss once a day. It helps make those routing cleanings so much faster and easier, and less painful.
It's the noises you hear that make you fearful, take an ipod with you to drown out the sounds while you are in the waiting room, I'm sure they'll even let you use it while your in the chair.

When I was young going to the dentist was like going to a torture chamber and I called them butchers. But now things have changed and they are so gentle and concerned about their patients that I don't mind going - but I must admit I still don't look forward to it, but it's no longer scary

I am. I had a bad experience when I was little and I've never recovered from it. The smell and the sound of the drill is a freaking nightmare!

I love mine. LOVE HIM
He is wonderful and so are the staff.

Ask everyone you know. seriously- if they say the love them, then check it out.
There is not reason to suffer in fear from a person who serves to help you get healthier and more beautiful.
