Pick your favorite (just a couple is fine). Something non-touristy, but great food and good atmosphere.

Thanks.

I'm ashamed to say that I eat out just about every night, and am pretty familiar with the restaurants. For steak you've got to try St. Elmos downtown. We also have a Ruth's Chris which is always good and recently Morton's came to town. Sushi, I love Wasabis but the atmosphere is lacking. When I want to go cheaper, I go to a hole-in-the-wall called Ichiban's. For Italian, Bravo's on the north side is good. Pizza, Nancy's (which is the closest to Giordano's in Chicago--best Chicago style pizza on the planet). And, last but not least, my favorite cuisine, (I get razzed for this)......Mexican! For that, you can try any small, authentic place around. I love El Camino Real in Fishers. I could eat Mexican food for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!!

Eagles Nest down town is a good one I found, the only place one can see over the corn fields.
or
The Chinese restaurant also down town (cant recall the name but its the only one there.

If ya love a great Mexican meal and don't mind the drive out to Shellbyville its called El Rodeo its on the left as ya get off the interstate heading to Shellbyville.
I spend alot of time between Sydney Aust & Indy and reckon by far them are the ones i liked best and good value for money.
Now if ya dont mind Greek food theres one out at Whitelands called Atheina's or Athens any way something greek. but I got a great feed out there with the atmosphere.

hope they help !

Iarea's or Milano for great Italian. Both are near downtown. For German fare I like the Rathskeller. St.Elmo's for steak. El Sol de Tala (or various hole-in-the-wall places where they don't speak English) for Mexican. Kazan's is a good Japanese place (good sushi also).

I've found a few ok seafood places, but nothing beats fresh from a restaurant on the coast (ie. none here) and most of the Chinese is too Americanized to be really good. Most of it is just ok.

a super form of sturdy ones; the downside is that Indy is almost the worldwide capital for chain eating places, so once you're searching for something you will not locate everywhere else, you are going to have a demanding time until eventually you be responsive to the city surprisingly lots. For my money, Greek Islands on S. Meridian is the main suitable non-chain joint on the city.
