why is my t.v. turning on and off continuosly by it's self? Please help.?

The relay switch that operates everything on the TV when you push a button on your remote is likely gone. It works on infrared ciruitry. The same thing happened to me. The new switch cost $ 80 + installation, 5 years ago.

There are two possibilities. One: the T.V. is malfunctioning due to a problem with the internal circuitry.
Two: there is an outside infrared source activating the power on/off circuit. Most T.V.'s have remote systems that operate on infrared beams. If another infrared source is active, the it could confuse the T.V.
