What works for me is to schedule some cry time. When those thoughts come into your mind, tell yourself you'll deal with it later. Then plan some time alone. Set a timer. Pull out all the stops, think about it, cry your eyes out, then when the timer goes off, STOP. Don't think about it again until your next scheduled cry time. It sounds hokey, but it does work.
