It is standard practice that any negative information stays on your credit report for 7 to 10 years. However, there is one little thing most people in the country don't know. There is no law, rule or regulation that states the information HAS to be on your credit report for 7 - 10 minutes, much less 7 - 10 years. The FCRA only says the information CAN stay on there that long but never makes it a requirement. The credit bureaus want you to think it has to be there, but the truth is, it doesn't. That is one reason why credit restoration companies (the legit ones) have so much success in what they do.

Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have... however there exists a solution.
I will hereby talk from my personal experience.
I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay to some minor details,
if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,
