Generally the same ingredients. Often one is more moist than the other. I think that waffles are a bit stiffer a recipe so that they don't run off of the irons.

We use buttermilk and oil as the liquid ingredients in our pancakes, whereas we use butter and water in our waffle batter. The butter is for flavor and crispness and the water evaporates during cooking producing steam that creates a leavened hollow interior. It is a similar result as pate du choix, eclair or cream puff batter.

pancakes and waffles are made from the same things... the taste should be the same.... but it can be different depending on the size of the waffles and pancakes...to me i like pancakes better because they are fluffier than waffles and can be eaten faster..

the recipe is basically the same
the main difference between pancakes and waffles involves how the heat is applied. waffles are crispier than pancakes because they are heated more intensely, and on all sides
