It was not time for Jesus to die, so, he walked through their midst.
Now, some will say that he just walked through the crowd. I think the angels helped him through the crowd. Like they did getting Peter out of his chains, through the jail, out of the town.

No one had the power to take the life of the only begotten son of God.
Jesus later permitted the Romans to put him to death, because that was how God planned to legitimately destroy Satan's power over mankind.
It worked.
