I would say neither. Self-righteousness in people is what made me leave the church. Openness? Hmm....I would say openness isn't exactly where you want to be either because of limits.
But what provides a lasting innner peace? You have to learn to take things with a grain of salt.

This is a rule for inner peace:
What does they Lord require of you but to act justly and to love kindness and to walk humble with your God.
That eliminates self-righteousness.

Hi Skeleton Past. God tells us that by doing His will and not ours will bring us peace of mind that surpasses understanding. In Philippians 4:6-7 we read:
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Neither! I have lasting inner peace from knowing that my sins are forgiven and Jesus is Lord. As the song says, "and I know whatever befalls me, Jesus does all things well." He is the key to lasting inner peace kiddo... trust Him!

openness - all things flow, learn to flow with them - peace is found within yourself, brought on by only you and it is not determined by the outside world - just flow, like the rise and fall of the tides
